Wednesday 13th May saw another teachingcommons event down at the Enterprise Zone this time on the transition to student life and ‘becoming’ a student. On Tuesday May 19th the latest teachingcommons Teaching Statistics event was held in the Enterprise Zone. Lead by Peter Mitchell, this session questioned which statistical ideas are considered essential for students and whether there were enough commonalities across departments’ use of stats to consider a generic statistics course – or whether discipline-specific teaching is the most effective means of grasping statistical ideas. For those of you who missed the workshop on Social Bookmarking today, you missed one of the most interesting teachingcommons presentations to date.
