Teaching Statistics: Is a General Stats Course the Way Forward?


On Tuesday May 19th the latest teachingcommons Teaching Statistics event was held in the Enterprise Zone. Lead by Peter Mitchell, this session questioned which statistical ideas are considered essential for students and whether there were enough commonalities across departments’ use of stats to consider a generic statistics course – or whether discipline-specific teaching is the most effective means of grasping statistical ideas.

Teaching Stats Circle: Feedback


On Monday 9th March teachingcommons held a Teaching Stats Circle which brought together University students and staff to discuss a proposal by MASH (Maths and Statistics Help) to have a University-wide course on statistics.
